Estimating Certificate

Overview

Construction estimators interpret construction documents and codes in order to effectively calculate the costs of projects. Want to start a high-demand career in estimating? Enroll in our Estimating Certificate program, offered in partnership with Community College of Aurora. Learn how to read blueprints, estimate labor and materials, document project status updates, and produce cost analyses.

This innovative, industry-driven program combines online coursework with hands-on training and career coaching at Colorado Homebuilding Academy. Students earn certifications from Community College of Aurora, OSHA, and Colorado Homebuilding Academy. Plus, the 16 credits required for this certificate count towards a 60-credit Associate in Applied Science – Construction Management degree at Community College of Aurora!

Program Schedule

This 16-credit certificate program requires 6 classes. Students attend classes at our training center while completing online coursework outside of class.

Eric Garvey

With over 15 years of experience in the construction industry, Eric got his start as a third-party inspector for home builders. He then spent nine years helping to operate a handyman business, and continued as a project manager for a roofing and siding company. Eric has a degree in business and project management, and is working on his Masters in Education. He has 5 kids and an awesome wife, Rene. Eric enjoys using his experience and education to train up-and-coming construction professionals.

Eric White

Eric began his career as a commercial flooring installer before becoming a carpenter for 12 years in residential new construction/additions and commercial renovations. He has also run his own handyman company for 7 years, rehabilitated historic structures and led construction projects in remote locations. His particular interests are in green building/sustainability, hiking and making crafts.

Mark Babcock

Mark has been involved in construction on and off since 1985, starting as a framer’s helper and progressing to project manager for high end home renovations. After taking a year off to become a dive instructor in Roatan, Honduras (where he met his wife), he moved from Canada to Denver to be with his wife Lori. He enjoys traveling, diving, and working on cars in his spare time. Mark is very excited about being a part of the Colorado Homebuilding Academy and teaching the next generation of construction experts.
